The University’s Knowledge Exchange operates a highly successful Enterprise Centre as well as managing and operating a number of innovative Knowledge Transfer schemes. We are now seeking a Knowledge Transfer Partnerships Officer to run the University’s delivery of the national Knowledge Transfer Partnership Scheme (http://www.ktponline.org.uk/). Working alongside professional and academic colleagues, the post holder will play a prominent role in engaging businesses regionally and nationally to promote KTP as part of an integrated solution to company needs. We are seeking a motivated, energetic and enthusiastic individual preferably with experience of advising businesses. Experience of managing business-specific projects would also be advantageous. Engaging innovative and forward thinking businesses, the post holder will have the ability to identify company requirements and align these to an appropriate KTP solution. Senior Business Development Manager Ref 1504

The Senior Business Development Manager (SBDM) post is a key role within Durham Business and Innovation Services (DBIS). The post holder responds to the Business Partnerships manager and is a member of the Business Engagement Team whose remit is to work closely with the research base to develop and engage in substantive research collaborations and partnerships and to streamline processes for dealing with business and to nurture multi point of contact relationships across a broad research base with strategic business, public and third sector partners.
The SBDM is responsible for providing a ‘broker’ or ‘link’ service to bring business, public and third sector partners together with relevant academic staff, research groups or research institutes, and to then support, nurture and manage the relationships and be responsible for supporting specific sectors as informed by review of key research strengths and opportunity horizon scanning. Additional responsibilities include the management of knowledge transfer vehicles including the Knowledge Transfer Partnership programme and supporting the analytical and consultancy services that are managed by DBIS. In this role you will be taking on a leading position within the Business Development Team and will be expected to manage projects either working alone or with a small team (1-3 people).

Business Development and Improvement Manager

The Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust and the University of Oxford have formally entered into a joint working agreement from 1 November. This strategic alliance supports a health sciences partnership that will integrate patient care, teaching and medical research to deliver the best in clinical treatment. The Trust and University are in the process of appointing a new Joint R+D Director.
We are seeking a highly motivated Business Development and Improvement Manager to provide support to the partnership Business Development team for developing commercial research relationships between the partners and industry. This post will be funded in first instance by the partnership’s Biomedical Research Centre (BRC)
The post-holder will assist the partnership Business Development team in identifying new opportunities for partnership with industry, public bodies and academic-industry networks and support the management and progression of projects from inception to completion of contracts. They will assist the BRC marketing team with promoting the expertise of the Oxford BRC partnerships in the provision of research services, technologies and consultancy and be required to develop strong external and internal networks with key stakeholders engaged in translational research and to support existing links with industry.
The successful candidate will combine strong relationship skills with a good technical knowledge of current themes in translational health research to converse with experts in both Corporate, NHS and University environments and assist the partnership Business Development team with developing and implementing new strategies designed to increase the partnerships (and specifically the BRC’s) interactions with industry and the public sector
The post holder will be based at the Joint Research Office at the Churchill Hospital in Oxford.

Knowledge Exchange Officer

The Department of Physics is seeking to appoint a Knowledge Exchange Officer to bring experience, insight and enthusiasm to the wider application of its world-class research.
The successful applicant will play a vital role in transferring technologies and expertise in Physics at Oxford both to industry and to other academic disciplines. This new post has been created in order to stimulate greater knowledge exchange activity in the Department, not only by effective communication with industry but also by supporting academics and researchers as they undertake their own projects. It forms part of a wider network of research and business development support across the University but offers the opportunity to shape a distinctive provision within Physics. This post has an initial four year fixed-term contract.
There will be particular focus on research in particle physics, astrophysics and planetary physics, but applicants with research experience from any physical science discipline, including that gained within industry, are encouraged to apply.

Market Intelligence Analyst (Physical Sciences)

Imperial Innovations builds and invests in companies based on inventions from world leading universities. In the course of this activity it must evaluate a significant number of inventions a year and develop plans for exploiting the most promising of those inventions. The Market Intelligence Executive (Physical Sciences) will focus on the commercial viability of inventions and, in particular, the evaluation of market need for emerging technologies such as novel materials, catalysts, process equipment, sensors, software, etc. This role requires someone with a deep understanding of science coupled with commercial acumen.
The analyst’s output will consist of written reports and other communications which will be used to develop commercialisation strategies and support investment decisions. This output will be produced via quantitative and qualitative research, using both primary and secondary resources, combined with analytical skill.
You must be able to understand both the technology and its business application, and be able to translate information effectively between academic and business communities. He or she must also have the perseverance and ingenuity to uncover data from disparate sources and be able to work on multiple projects simultaneously. Working as part of the Ventures team he or she must be confident in working with academics and prospective company management in the support of the development of robust business plans for new businesses.
